Asset Performance Matrix
Anytime Fitness sells memberships to a network of separately owned clubs. Every club sets its own dues, contract length, equipment and rules, so the things that decide what you pay are decided at the club, not by the brand.
What matters when choosing Anytime Fitness
“Independently owned and operated” governs every commercial term. The brand’s membership page closes its free-trial terms with that sentence. There is no national cancellation notice period, no published rate card and no central contract — each of those lives in one club’s membership agreement.
The two national terms that are published are about mobility, not money. On transfers: “All memberships are transferrable whether by usage or relocation. Relocation transfers must be more than 10 miles from your last residence. You won’t incur a transfer fee… However, if you change your home gym—rates could change depending on your monthly dues.” On club access, answering whether your fob works elsewhere: “You will have access to all gyms at any location,” which the brand extends to “gyms nationwide AND around the globe.”
Access and staffing are two items on the same list. The amenity list carries “24-hour Secure Access” and, separately, “Weekly Staffed Hours.” The first describes a door, not a staffed floor.
The only price the brand publishes is an average it immediately disclaims. “Pricing will vary depending on your location, but the average monthly cost of membership is $53. Club dues, monthly fees and any additional charges are specific to each independently owned gym.” Student, senior, military and insurance discounts all exist, but “it is up to each location to opt-in.”
Before you join
- Read the cancellation paragraph of that club’s membership agreement. The brand’s position is unambiguous: “All cancellation policies are outlined in the membership agreement for each location. The agreement covers the cost to cancel, how to cancel and more information on any additional termination fees you may incur.” Contract length is local for the same reason — “Some gyms offer 6, 12 and 18-month options.”
- Settle your rate before you switch home clubs. A relocation transfer costs nothing; changing the home club is where “rates could change.”
- Check the trial length against what you need. The current offer is “valid for 1 or 7 days’ (as applicable) access to participating Anytime Fitness location,” limited to new customers and local residents with photo ID.
- Budget for the paperwork if you pay through an HSA or FSA. The published route is a Dr. B $15 virtual consultation to obtain a Letter of Medical Necessity, then you submit your receipts and the letter to your own administrator.

✓ Strategic Strengths
- We hold no sourced strengths list for this brand. This is a gap in our record, not a finding: the strengths of a brand that publishes no specification sheet, no warranty schedule and no price list cannot be asserted from a record we do not have.
! Operational Risks
- We hold no sourced risks list for this brand. We have not audited it, so we are not going to report that we found nothing: an empty record is not a clean result.
