Matrix Fitness

Matrix Fitness is the commercial brand of Johnson Health Tech — its own images and warranty documents are served from assets.johnsonhealthtech.com, and its service request form lives at support.johnsonfit.com. It publishes that it “celebrates 25 years in commercial fitness” and that “since 2001, Matrix has expanded its portfolio, technology and support network to serve fitness and wellness spaces around the world.” The channels it names are Health Clubs, hospitality, athletic performance, active aging, multi-unit housing and “For Your Home.”

What matters when choosing Matrix Fitness

The standard warranty is published as a downloadable sell sheet, and it is graded by product line. Cardio frames and drive motors carry 7 years of parts and 3 years of labour; strength frames carry 10 years of parts and 3 years of labour; strength parts are 3 years and 3, while “Upholstery, Cables & Springs” are 1 year and 1; wear items are 90 days and 90 throughout.

Labour is capped at three years whatever the parts term is. The document states that “Standard warranty includes labor coverage for the duration outlined in the warranty charts below, up to a maximum of three (3) years.” A ten-year strength frame is therefore a ten-year parts promise with three years of labour behind it.

Group training functional strength is the outlier. Its frame is 10 years parts / 3 years labour and its drive motor 3 years / 3 years, but its parts term is 90 days and 90 days — the same as wear items, not the 3 years every other line’s parts carry.

“Frame” is defined narrowly, and this matters when reading the ten-year number. The document defines it as “the welded structural frame only. Excludes coatings and removable components,” defines “Parts” as “motors, electronics, consoles, TVs, pulleys, grips, pedals and bearings unless otherwise noted,” and “Wear Items” as “straps and cosmetic coatings subject to normal wear.”

Labour depends on where the machine stands. “All Labor shall be supplied by the local Matrix certified technician, where commercially available. The Product must be located within that service provider’s service area. Labor will not be covered for products located outside service area.”

The cover is not transferable and the remedy is discretionary. “This warranty applies only to the original owner and is not transferable,” and repair or replacement “will be at the discretion of Matrix Fitness, exercised in good faith, and is the sole remedy of the warranty.” The document also notes that “Parts reconditioned to As New Condition by Matrix Fitness or its vendors may sometimes be supplied as warranty replacement parts,” and that placement in “poolrooms, saunas, bathrooms, car ports, or outdoors” may void it.

Accessories are published as ranges, not single numbers. Dumbbells and kettlebells are “90 Days - 5 Years,” barbells “3-5 Years,” plates “2-5 Years,” functional additions “90 Days - 1 Year,” and Olympic bars, non-Olympic bars and storage racks 3 years.

Before you buy

• Ask which line your model belongs to before comparing the headline frame terms: group training functional strength parts are 90 days, not 3 years.
• Confirm your site is inside a Matrix service area, because the labour half of the term depends on it.
• An extended warranty is published alongside the standard one; the file name identifies the provider as SafeWare.
• Parts can be ordered directly at parts.matrixfitness.com, and owner’s manuals are published at jhtsupport.com, so a service history is checkable before you buy used.
