We do not hold per-dimension scores for Whoop. Every dimension reads the same number in our records, which means the value was never assessed rather than that all six came out equal, so we show nothing rather than a number we cannot stand behind.

Verdict

WHOOP sells annual memberships, not monthly ones. Its join page published three tiers on 4 October 2026: WHOOP One starting at $199 a year, WHOOP Peak at $239 a year with a WHOOP 5.0, and WHOOP Life at $359 a year with a WHOOP MG. Both current devices are described as having a 14+ day battery. We have not worn one, so this page reports what WHOOP publishes and what its terms commit it to, not how well any of it works.

Market Position

An annual-membership wearable company whose prices live on join.whoop.com rather than on whoop.com, which serves 155-character shells for its pricing, technology and methodology pages. Its own terms say the device is part of the membership: 'The WHOOP Membership includes a WHOOP Device plus access to certain Services, including the WHOOP App'. The same site also sells replacement hardware to existing members, so a membership and a device purchase are two separate transactions. We could not verify the professional-athlete and team-market claims our previous draft of this page made.

What Distinguishes This Brand

The part that is genuinely documented is the bundle: a device WHOOP claims runs 14+ days, tiers whose price differences come with named features, and a trade-in, all on one published page. The part we cannot document is the analytics. Our previous draft of this page described WHOOP's recovery analytics as 'unmatched' and 'calibrated to individual baselines'. We found no specification, no methodology document and no validation data on whoop.com - its /methodology page returns a 155-character shell - so those claims have been removed rather than rewritten. If measurement accuracy is what you are buying, you will have to decide from independent testing, not from this page.

Strategic Strengths

  • The prices are published, and they are annual. WHOOP One at 'starting at $199/year', WHOOP Peak at 'Available at $239/yr' and WHOOP Life at 'Available at $359/yr'. The same page adds 'Get started for $0. HSA/FSA eligible' and a trade-in of 'up to $119 off today when you trade up with an eligible wearable'. Source: join.whoop.com, retrieved 4 October 2026.
  • The device is included rather than priced separately, and WHOOP states the battery figure for the device in each tier: WHOOP Peak is 'Everything on WHOOP One, plus WHOOP 5.0 with 14+ day battery', and WHOOP Life is 'Everything on WHOOP Peak, plus WHOOP MG with 14+ day battery'. That 14+ day figure is WHOOP's own claim; we have not measured it.
  • A price increase gives you an exit window. WHOOP's terms say: 'We will notify you at least fifteen days before any changes to your Membership Fee will become effective. If you do not wish to accept the price change or change to your Membership plan, you can cancel your Membership before the change takes effect.' Source: whoop.com/terms-of-use, retrieved 4 October 2026.
  • The tiers are differentiated in writing rather than by marketing adjectives. WHOOP Peak adds the 'Healthspan and Pace of Aging Health Monitor with health alerts' and a 'Real-time Stress Monitor'; WHOOP Life adds 'Blood Pressure Insights for wellness', a 'Heart Screener with ECG readings' and 'On-demand AFib Detection'. So the $120 difference between Peak and Life has named features attached to it.

Operational Risks & Limitations

  • There is no monthly price, and a device can cost extra. Our previous version of this page quoted '$30/month or $299/year' and said there was 'no upfront hardware cost'. Neither appears on WHOOP's site. WHOOP publishes annual prices only, and the same join page sells devices to people who already have a membership: 'Already a member? Get your WHOOP 5.0 or MG today.'
  • The free trial is not a decision, it is a countdown. WHOOP's terms say that 'At the end of your Free Trial, your use of the Services will automatically roll into a paid Peak annual Membership' at the fee in effect when the trial started, 'if you do not cancel prior to the Membership Commencement Date'. The trial is also 'a free one-month trial period ... in select countries', and the device 'may be either a new or pre-owned WHOOP Device at the sole discretion of WHOOP' - with the caveat that a pre-owned unit 'may have slight cosmetic damage such as minor scratches'.
  • Missing a payment switches the device off rather than pausing the bill. The terms say an account with outstanding fees 'will go into an inactive state three days after non-payment', and 'In this inactive state, you will be unable to upload data from your WHOOP Device.' For annual memberships, WHOOP retries the full amount monthly and then charges 'one-twelfth (1/12)' as a partial charge each month until it succeeds or you cancel.
  • We could not verify any health-platform integration. 'Apple Health', 'Health Connect' and 'Strava' appear zero times in the 122,781-character Terms of Use, and whoop.com serves a 155-character shell for its product, technology and methodology pages. Our previous claim that WHOOP 'lags behind Garmin and Apple' on integrations has no source behind it, and we removed it rather than soften it. We also found no display specification on the pages we retrieved, so we are not going to tell you whether the device has one.

Risk Assessment

Four things we can quote. WHOOP 'may change' membership options and pricing 'from time to time at the sole discretion of WHOOP', though with at least fifteen days' notice. A free trial converts automatically to a paid annual membership unless cancelled before the commencement date, and the trial device may be pre-owned and cosmetically marked. Non-payment inactivates the account within three days and stops data upload, after which annual balances are collected in monthly twelfths. Finally, 'If your free Membership has lasted longer than 6 months for whatever reason, WHOOP reserves the right at any time to modify or discontinue' it. What we cannot assess at all is WHOOP's financial position, its hardware reliability or its measurement accuracy, because none of the pages we could retrieve contain financial or validation data.

Buyer Recommendation

Buy WHOOP if you want one annual number that includes the hardware, published in advance, with HSA/FSA eligibility and a trade-in available - and if you are the kind of buyer who will actually re-read the price when a change lands, since WHOOP gives you at least fifteen days to decide. Wait if you need a monthly option or need to leave on a month boundary, because WHOOP publishes annual pricing and nothing else. If you take the free trial rather than buying, check your account before it ends, and do not treat the trial device as guaranteed new.

Best For

  • People who want one annual number that includes the device instead of a device price plus a separate subscription
  • Buyers who will read the tier comparison before paying, because Peak and Life differ by $120 a year and by named features
  • HSA/FSA buyers - WHOOP states its memberships are eligible

Ideal Buyer Profile

  • Buyers who can commit annually, since WHOOP publishes no monthly price
  • People who will cancel early when a price change lands, since WHOOP gives at least fifteen days' notice
  • Shoppers comfortable with hardware that may be pre-owned on a free trial, if they take the trial rather than buying

Not Recommended For

  • Anyone who needs a monthly membership or needs to stop on a month boundary - WHOOP publishes annual pricing only
  • Free-trial users who will not check their account before it ends; WHOOP's terms say use of the services 'will automatically roll into a paid Peak annual Membership' unless you cancel before the Membership Commencement Date
  • Buyers shopping on app-store integration claims - we found no reference to Apple Health, Health Connect or Strava anywhere in WHOOP's Terms of Use

Competitive Positioning

We are not going to tell you whether WHOOP is better than Garmin or Oura. The only WHOOP pages we could retrieve are its terms of use and its join page, and neither publishes accuracy data, methodology or a comparison to a competitor. Our previous version of this page claimed WHOOP's integrations lagged behind Garmin and Apple and quoted prices of $30 a month and $299 a year; none of that appears on WHOOP's site and all of it has been removed. For the same sourcing standard applied to other wearables, see our pages for garmin and oura.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a WHOOP membership cost?

WHOOP publishes annual membership prices, not monthly ones. As of 4 October 2026 its join page lists WHOOP One at 'starting at $199/year', WHOOP Peak at 'Available at $239/yr' and WHOOP Life at 'Available at $359/yr', with a Life + Labs option that adds bloodwork. The same page says 'Get started for $0. HSA/FSA eligible' and offers a trade-in of up to $119 off. WHOOP's terms confirm that pricing can change 'at the sole discretion of WHOOP' and that current options and pricing 'can be found at join.whoop.com'. We do not publish a monthly figure because WHOOP does not list one - our previous version of this page quoted $30 a month, which appears nowhere on WHOOP's site. Source: join.whoop.com, retrieved 4 October 2026.

How long does the WHOOP battery last?

WHOOP states 14+ days for the devices in its current tiers: WHOOP Peak includes 'WHOOP 5.0 with 14+ day battery' and WHOOP Life includes 'WHOOP MG with 14+ day battery'. That is the manufacturer's claim and we have not measured it. Our previous version of this page said the device lasts 4 to 5 days on a charge, which we could not source and which describes an earlier generation - it has been withdrawn. Source: join.whoop.com, retrieved 4 October 2026.

What happens when the WHOOP free trial ends?

It converts automatically unless you act first. WHOOP's terms say 'At the end of your Free Trial, your use of the Services will automatically roll into a paid Peak annual Membership' at the Membership Fee in effect at the start of your trial, 'if you do not cancel prior to the Membership Commencement Date'. Two further details worth knowing: the trial is offered 'in select countries' only, and 'The WHOOP Device included in a Free Trial may be either a new or pre-owned WHOOP Device at the sole discretion of WHOOP', where a pre-owned unit 'may have slight cosmetic damage such as minor scratches'. Source: whoop.com/terms-of-use, retrieved 4 October 2026.

What happens if a WHOOP membership payment fails?

The account goes inactive and stops recording. WHOOP's terms say that if fees are outstanding, 'your Account will go into an inactive state three days after non-payment', and 'In this inactive state, you will be unable to upload data from your WHOOP Device.' For annual memberships, WHOOP attempts the full annual fee monthly; after a failed attempt it collects 'one-twelfth (1/12)' as a partial charge, repeating monthly until the full amount succeeds or you cancel. Assembled from our structured brand record.

A small team cannot hand-write a page for every brand we track, so this one is generated from the same record the scores come from. It summarises that record and reports nothing we measured.

✓ Strategic Strengths

  • We hold no sourced strengths list for this brand. This is a gap in our record, not a finding: the strengths of a brand that publishes no specification sheet, no warranty schedule and no price list cannot be asserted from a record we do not have.

! Operational Risks

  • We hold no sourced risks list for this brand. We have not audited it, so we are not going to report that we found nothing: an empty record is not a clean result.
